Can an Adult Lose Weight at a Boot Camp?

Yes. Most definitely. There is a proven track record showing many overweight adults have lost several pounds when attending a boot camp just for people like them. But there are a number of points which need to be explained.

The first is that this type of boot camp is not a torture chamber. You may have seen certain types of TV shows where obese people are pushed to the limit in order to shed some pounds. Most boot camps are nothing like that. The camps have their best interest in the clients being successful

So you will find professionals working to proven methods and programs and, provided the clients are serious, success almost always takes place.

Longevity is the goal of every boot camp program. It’s crazy to lose the weight when at boot camp only to put it back on once you get home. It’s a waste of money and this yo-yo weight situation is certainly bad for your health. So the aim is to lose the weight and to keep it off. Okay but how?

Well here you need a plan and then some. You need maybe a personal trainer or a friend of family member to keep an eye on you and your eating. You need a reason as to why you wish to lose the weight. That reason could be so as to fit into a new dress or to escort your daughter down the aisle on her wedding day or to compete in a sporting event. But whatever your goal, write it down and keep it handy. You want to be able to refer to it at any time. Motivation is usually the key to your success.

Then the plan. It needs to be a mix of diet and exercise. There are some steps you can take immediately. Cut out in between meals or snacks. Or, if you must snack, do so on a piece of fruit. Then plan your exercise routine. Do not tackle anything without having first had a medical check-up. Once you have your plan drawn up, place it in a prominent position and keep a diary on how you are going. This could be a daily or a weekly diary.

Watch your progress. Keep checking your weight. Give yourself as few opportunities as possible to do the wrong thing. If you have no candy in the house, it is difficult to give in to your sweet tooth temptations. And be aware too that too much food even if it is good is also a no-no.

The foundation for your plan to lose weight is always your quality of life. You don’t need to be a doctor to know that the heart must work much harder if a person is carrying excess pounds. The chances of someone getting diabetes are increased if they are overweight. There should be little inventive for you to lose weight. Your health will almost always improve if you are the right weight for your height.

So certainly consider going to a boot camp for a weight loss program but have plenty of back up materials to make sure your pounds that go away stay away.
